What we know
- A 22-foot Bayliner speedboat capsized in New York Harbor near Liberty Island around 10:25 p.m. Saturday.
- Twelve people were rescued from the water before police arrived.
- Police divers later found a 27-year-old woman and a 5-month-old girl in the water; both were pronounced dead at a hospital.
- The other 12 survivors were in stable condition, according to the Coast Guard.
- Manuel Hernandez, 46, of New York, has been charged with 13 counts of reckless endangerment.
- A sightseeing hot tub boat, Sea the City II, took the 12 survivors aboard and coordinated with the Coast Guard and NYPD Harbor units to bring them to land in Brooklyn.
